Taught to the whole class together, with the teacher leading from the front and time set aside each lesson for work on your own.

Works across Grade 3, which is more overlap than it sounds. Teaches the class together, then leaves time in every lesson for work on your own. Marks quickly, and says what to do next rather than only what went wrong.
